Thirteen-year-old Liam and eleven-year-old Delia are running out of time, money, and options. Their mother died onboard the ship that carried them from Boston to San Francisco, and now their father has disappeared. San Francisco is not the city they imagined in their dreams. Instead, it is a ramshackle, chaotic place filled with dangers. But there are opportunities too . . . if they can find a way to survive. Amidst the beached ships, hodgepodge of buildings and tents, and scrubby dunes, Liam and Delia set out to prove that their journey to a new home was not in vain.
